Tommy Trask

Tommy Trask, Owner of National Capital Corporation (NCC)

Tom Trask was born May 21, 1946 in Mansfield, PA where he lived until he went to college at the University of Kentucky. After receiving a BS inelectrical engineering from UK in 1968, he joined the US Air Force and served for 11 years, including assignments in San Antonio,Dayton, Boston and the Pentagon. While in Dayton, he received an MS in Systems Management from the AF Institute of Technology.

Leaving the Air Force in 1979, Tom started his tax and accounting practice in Herndon, VA. He obtained his Enrolled Agent certification to practice before the IRS soon thereafter and has held and relinquished the Certified Financial Planner designation as well as various securities licenses. Tom completed a second MS—this one in Finance from the College for Financial Planning. He moved his office from Herndon to Lansdowne in 2011.

Tax preparation and planning for both personal and small business clients constitutes the bulk of the work for Tom’s practice. Over the years, he has assisted with the formation of numerous corporations and partnerships as well as the liquidation of entities. He has also assisted with selling family businesses to the next generation, establishing custom-tailored pension plans, unwrapping defective stock purchases by pension plans, and recharacterizing a stock purchase as an asset purchase. After 35 years practicing accounting, Tom has experienced most of the ordinary tax issues and several of the more exotic and exciting situations.
